Important Update: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of Education has cancelled the 2020 Regional Digital Equity Summits that were scheduled to occur between May and August. Issues of digital equity are timely, and we will look for an opportunity to reschedule the Summits.

The U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Technology is excited to announce a free series of Regional Digital Equity Summits. The Summits will bring together education leaders and community collaborators to explore opportunities to partner and address local digital equity challenges. We invite you to join us!

About the Digital Equity Summits

Technology has the potential to expand access to high-quality educational opportunities by connecting students to resources and expertise anywhere in the world. As schools and districts progress along the continuum of technology implementation, it is important to consider two underlying issues in order to avoid exacerbating pre-existing inequities: 1) student access to high-speed, reliable, and affordable broadband at school and at home and 2) opportunities to use technology in active, creative ways.

The 2020 Regional Digital Equity Summits will bring together state and local education leaders and community collaborators to identify strategies, connect with resources, and explore opportunities to partner to address local digital equity challenges of broadband access, affordability, and use for students at school and home.

Ongoing Technical Assistance

Following each Summit, attendees will have access to six months of free, ongoing technical assistance as they build community action plans to address local digital equity priorities. In addition to providing access to additional resources and subject matter expertise, the ongoing technical assistance will provide an opportunity for sustained engagement among attendees.
